For years people have asked the same question, Ã¢â¬Å"are organic foods better than processed foods?Ã¢â¬ and the answer seems to be yes; organic foods are better since they lack pesticide, added hormones and are more nutritious. Or is it just a misconception since research states otherwise, Ã¢â¬Å"The Stanford report, an analysis of 237 studies of organic produce, meats and dairy foods, concluded that organic foods are no more nutritious than their conventional counterparts.Ã¢â¬ but why do many people still believe organic is better? To start things off, organic food is when food lacks pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, antibiotics etc. Processes or conventional food is the exact opposite of organic food. (As a side note, I would like to add that organicÃ¢â¬ ¦show more contentÃ¢â¬ ¦So does that mean processed food better? From what we know, processed food is no different from organic food when it comes to nutritional values. Organic food is just more expensive and is absent of pesticides and hormones. Despite having the same nutritional value and being cheaper, processed food might have some harmful effects too. There are some foods that should not be eaten, if they are conventionally grown such as apples, strawberries and spinach. Eating these conventionally grown foods can cause risks from the pesticide used on the plants. However the risk depends on the produce and the amount of pesticides used and the area it was grown. The location has to do a lot with how a plant is grown. As you can see there are risks and benefits to both types of growing. So how do we make a decision on which is better for us? ThereÃ¢â¬â¢s still a dispute over processes food being less nutritious than organic foods. Michael Pollan is a person who has added more fuel to it in his essay Ã¢â¬Å"Unhappy MealsÃ¢â¬ . According to Pollan, Ã¢â¬Å"Processing foods depletes them of many nutrients, a few of which are then added back in through Ã¢â¬Å"fortificationÃ¢â¬ : folic acid in refined flour, vitamins and minerals in breakfast cereal. Food is prawn to contamination from pathogens, chemicals or parasites, hence should be handled with care. Foods should be preserved in chilling facilities inhibiting contamination (Guchait ,Priyanko Jack, Neal Tony, 17). The store should be clean at all time and free from rodents and other animals. Regular cleaning and arrangement of the warehouse should be conducted. Foods should be cooked effectively to ensure that all the bacterias present in the food are neutralized to prevent food poisoning. The hotel facilities should be clean as required by the law, the staff should wear protective gears that will prevent contamination of the food. The hotel establishment should have water sinks where the staff can wash their hands before and after handling food to prevent contamination of the food.
